1st Day. TRANSFER IN-HOTEL (-/-/D)

Fly from your country to Quito, the capital of Ecuador, the second highest city of the world situated at 2800 meter over sea level (8400 feet). You are met in the airport and scored to your hotel.
In the night you have a special romantic dinner at Casa Gangotena Hotel, inspired by Ecuador’s stunningly-rich and diverse ingredients, Casa Gangotena has developed its own creative take on signature cuisine.

2ND Day. CITY TOUR AND MIDDLE OF THE WORLD. (-/L/-)

Breakfast. In the morning you will have a walking tour in the old town of Quito’s city, one of the most beautiful and preserved old towns of South America and declared as a “Cultural Heritage Site” by UNESCO, where you visit the Main Square, The Compañia of Jesus Church, and San Francisco Church, after that you will go to Panecillo’s hill, which is a beautiful view point of Quito’s city. Then you will go to the Middle of the world where you visit the Intiñan Museum, it is an Interactive museum where you understand what happen in the equator line, and visit the Middle of the world city, where we have the monument established by French Geodesic mission.

3rd Day. QUITO-OTAVALO-CUICOCHA-ZULETA (B-/-/D)

Breakfast. You will go to the Otavalo Market, the most famous handicraft’s market of indigenous people in South America; on the road you have stops in a view points where you can see beautiful landscapes of the Andes, when you arrive to Otavalo you have a leisure time for shopping and to feel the atmosphere of the market; after that you go to Cuichocha lagoon, this one is a crater of an active volcano more than 200 meter deep; finally you drive to Zuleta’s Hacienda, whose construction since 1691 and one of the owners was a President of Ecuador.

4th Day. ZULETA FULL DAY (B/L/D)

Breakfast, this day you can planning your activities as riding horses, you can choose one the twenty horses that has this hacienda; hiking and trekking, this hacienda has a variety of trail options for every interest and fitness level or also some trails are well-marked and easy to navigate on your own; or if you want more adventure, you can rent a mountain bikes size 15” to 18.5” as well as helmets. There are many trails perfect for biking, and you can ride your bike to the top of a nearby hill for after enjoying the descent back to Zuleta!

5th Day. ZULETA-QUITO (B/L/D)

After breakfast we invite you to explore the organic garden, where you can learn about permaculture and see where the ingredients the menu originate. You can explore the farm operation, feed baby calves, count sheep, talk to the vaqueros (local Cowboys), enjoy our embroidery museum, or relax in the garden before leaving Zuleta. The guide are going to pick up you for your transfer to Quito at midday.
In the night you are have a dinner Tasting menu at Theatrum Restaurant. Located in Quito´s Historical Center on the second floor of Sucre National, Theather, Cultural Patrimony from the XIX century, an expression of renaissance Classicism.

6th Day. QUITO-MASHPI LODGE (B/L/D)

The adventure begins at our 8 AM pick-up time for guests staying in Quito’s main hotels (Time will be confirmed by our Operations Department). Mashpi Reserve, a 1,300-hectare (3,200 acres) conservation property located within the Metropolitan District of Quito, forms a part of the Ecuadorian Choco rainforest, known as one of the world’s greatest biodiversity hotspots. On our way to Mashpi, we visit the archaeological ruins at Tulipe, said to have belonged to the ancient Yumbo civilization of pre-Inca Quito, set in a magical forested location. We’ll taste delicious Ecuadorian appetizers and fresh-brewed coffee prepared by members of the local community before our final one-hour descent into Mashpi Reserve.
After settling into our respective rooms, we are introduced to our naturalist guides who will briefly speak about the cloud forest and its conservation, the activities offered during our stay, and helpful tips about what to wear and bring during excursions.

7th Day. Mashpi Lodge (B/L/D)

This activity combines early birding inside forest and the Life Center’s butterfly house. Our day begins at 6:30 AM in the hotel lobby, with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate and biscuits. We walk to the Life Center while seeking bird flocks crossing the road, hoping to catch sight of the many colorful tanager species that inhabit these forests.
The Life Centre offers a marvelous view of the forest from the comfort of an expansive wooden deck, where wildlife abounds. We will identify the different birds and mammals that visit the fruit feeders and around 8 AM, we will enjoy a picnic breakfast. Around 10:30 AM, we head back to the lodge to rest, or maybe enjoy the Jacuzzi or a relaxing massage at the Wellness Centre, followed by a well-deserved lunch.
Approximately 3 PM we gather at the lobby for our afternoon excursion along the Napa Trail. This trail crosses a variety of habitats including secondary and regenerative forests, as well as large patches of primary forest. This is also a trail of great scenic beauty and an excellent opportunity for bird watching. Towards the end, we will encounter one of Mashpi’s most unique attractions: the “iron palm” (Iriartea deltoidea). The moderately difficult hike last about two hours to complete.

8th Day. Mashpi Lodge – Papallacta (B/L/D)

This activity begins at 6:30 AM in the hotel lobby and takes advantage of the many bird species that come to the hotel to feed. After a cup of coffee, we walk down the road seeking mixed-species feeding flocks: these usually feature different insectivorous bird species that move together while foraging. About at 8:30 AM we leave the hotel and head to Copal Waterfall. This beautiful 2- hour-long hike features a landscape of moss-covered trees, bromelias and orchids at every corner. The trail ends at a spectacular waterfall over 50 m high. We return to the hotel by noon for check out and enjoy our last meal at Mashpi before
heading back to Papallacta at approximately 1:00 PM.
